Nice photo have you got any more like under the bridge showing the roof & the arches?

A little bit of light fluffy cloud in the top left would have been nice. But I suppose you couldn't have organised that.

But with that in mind, I wonder about cropping away a bit from the top. Possibly end up with something like a 5 x 4 ratio?

For some reason that actually seems to make the bridge seem longer.

Glen, I was shooting two overpasses that day. I think this image is of the same overpass but from underneath. With this image I've struggled a bit. I tried a zillion versions and then finally gave up. This is my best shot.

Hi Geoff. I assume you meant a 4x5. I do like it.

No, I'm happy there are no clouds. Something about the pure blue against the rest of the image that I like.

    It's not also 271 South?

The second one is really special in my mind. I would be strongly tempted to eliminate the two openings that expose the sky but that's just my take on that sort of thing.

Mike, good one on 271 South. Everyone knows that 271 only goes north (only kidding).

The only blue slit that bothers me is the one on the far right. The other two seem natural to me and reflect the continuation of the sky. The one on the far right just looks like a narrow blue line not connected with anything. I'm going to fix that one.

    Re: 271 North

    Hi Karm,

The second crop makes it more obvious that the image really needed a bit of clockwise rotation to get the piers vertical (as built, I suspect), but doing that would make the foreground grass slope

This is why I don't often attempt this kind of photography, the real world rarely makes a good photo - there's always something that spoils a good composition

I think the key to the second version is not having the bright bit top right, cloning is one option I briefly considered, but I won't suggest it seriously.

Is 271 South the right half of the second shot?

I think you're referring to the first or third photo. I was referring to the second photo.

Mike, I did a vertical distortion correction on this one. I think it's better.

On the pic of the underside of the overpass I agree with you to get rid of the sky slits. I tried to do this a bunch of times (Lightroom 4) and it kept looking like crap -- my lack of skill? I'm going to get the new version of Elements. It has better and easier to use tools to fix this type of problem than Lightoom -- at least that's been my experience.

    Re: 271 North

I was actually thinking about 5 x 4 ratio, Karm, and losing some of the top area.

For some reason, not really sure why, that seems to look better to me.

I'd lose the grass and trees - probably not the picture you're after though

Greg I played with your idea and rejected it. I like the pastoral setting of this concrete overpass.
