Richard, nice photographs. I like the sepia tone.

I like them too. But it is kind of more nostalgic for me.
We had a day trip there in Sept 2010. It was soo hot wandering the wall, and I did not have my camera.
Only hopeless cellphones to take photos with. They are not good enough to post on here.

Makes me want to go back.

Yes, sharply focused and you have managed to cope with a tricky mixture of shadows and bright highlights.

Two very good compositions and, as Geoff says, with well managed lighting situations.

While I agree that the lighting was managed very well, I'm also jealous that the lighting is so much better than the one time I had to shoot essentially the same composition as the first photo.

I would return to Dubrovnik in a heart beat, including a particular restaurant and the same dish that I enjoyed years ago.

Robin, I can relate to this statement, "We had a day trip there in Sept 2010. It was soo hot wandering the wall"

God it was hot on my way up those steep and dangerous steps to the top of the walls in 90 degree f. (33+ C.) heat!

    Dubrovnik, Croatia

When we reached the top, my wife said, you are crazy for doing this at 73 years old. You think that you are still thirty. She was right, I felt not at all good looking down in that heat...

    Dubrovnik, Croatia

Then I looked at the rest of the walls and realized there would be more climbing...

    Dubrovnik, Croatia

So I decided that discretion is the better part of valor and quit while I could still walk down unaided. I hugged the hand rails all the way down and was quite hot and tired but, happy to reach ground level...

As I expected, visiting a town from a cruise ship at mid-day is certainly not a great way to get good photos.
