    Widow Skimmer

I never thought about taking pictures of dragonflies (and related critters) until I saw all the fine images of them posted here. This is my second attempt at capturing one. I left the background noisy to give it a velvety texture.

    Comments welcomed.

Nicely done Karm. A trick I learned is if you can isolate them at the top or vegetation and get an angle for the sky as a background or get separation between the dragonfly and what will be the background, both will give a nice soft clean background.

Thanks Joe. I shoot these guys with my camera on a tripod. I spend most of my time praying that they land somewhere near and stay still long enough for me to put a lens on them and focus. I'll definitely try your suggested shot. Meanwhile, I take what is given.
