    Fazzoletto

Back in the studio for the Glass Makers!

This style is known as a Fazzoletto (Italian for handkerchief I am told) vase. Because of the handkerchief look of the top of the vase.

Really well lit photograph. Can you tell us how it was set up?

    Thank you, Bruce!

Of course. It was quite simple really.

I lit it with a small softbox from directly behind and above. I wanted to make sure it shot showing its translucence so I went for a soft backlight, which also softened the shadow of the piece. I just feathered the light it such that I got the light falloff I wanted to produce the background gradient.
