    A warm welcome

At the military entrance for Kabul International Airport, with the Hindu Kush mountains in the background:

    A warm welcome

Chilling scene, Phil, and the b&w conversion is so right. Super shot.

You must have seriously upset someone to get that gig

P.S. I just remembered that the Hindu Kush refers to death, maybe meaning "kill the Hindus (the inhabitants of Hindustan, not the religious grouping). Seems horribly appropriate.

How do you get to these places, are you a secret agent? Well the photo looks fine but what if the dof emphasised the barbed wire, slightly out of focus vehicles, and what if it was rusty.

Maybe a longer focal length to bring the trucks closer, just a thought.

Apologies if this is a slight hijack...

and what if it was rusty
Yes, but it's not rusty is it? It's brand spanking new razor wire. For me, that's one thing that makes it so chilling.

If I told you, I'd have to kill you

I only had a point and shoot, and this was a quick grab with a point and shoot before the convoy got close enough to see a camera trained on them. Not a good idea with a Red threat level at the airport at the time. It was safer for us to exit through the military entrance that go through the terminal at the time.

Thanks Dave. Chilling in another way too - it was around -15c at the time!
