    Cormorant and Halibut

I came upon this guy trying with all his might to get this down but to no avail a Pelican swooped down and took it . Not great photos but an interesting study in nature.

Definitely an interesting sequence of photos - including what looks like a squawk of protest from the cormorant in the final photo!

This reminds me of Lear's verse:

A wonderful bird is the Pelican
His beak holds more than his belly can

Great series of behavioral shots. Yeah I'll bet the cormorant was really torqued after doing all the work to dive down and catch the fish. Nice job.

Great sequence, but oh dear, Footloose, not Lear. The American, Dixon Lanier Merritt, penned it.

Doh! I knew that David because I have been told before, but I couldn't think of the name and googled "lear and pelican" and it came up as lear's poem. Thanks for reminding me again ... hope it sinks in this time
