Mini Competition #51

Purely optional, but how about this mini comp having a UFO / Alien lifeforms theme in honour of the alledged "Area 51" :)

Here's how it works ...

- You good folks post images in the thread (please change your post title to a name for your picture)

- When we get 10 images we will attach a voting poll

- After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared!

- If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post

That is the way Victorian engineers had to work. Handraulic drilling and splitting of stonework to create a path from a solid cliff face with a sheer drop into the sea. Just to create a coastal walk for Victorian gentlemen while their ladies sat around in the safety of a tea garden half a mile away.

Here is my entry: In my dream

In the morning of 16 December, I came to the reeds again. This time, the light condition was completely different from last time when I shot these reeds under moonlight, but still soft enough. I used Singh Ray Vari-ND filter to get about 7 stops slower, which allowed me to shoot with quite large aperture f/4.5, long focal length 116mm, and slow shutter speed 10 seconds. This created an effect of vignetting on the four corners as well as a reasonable water reflection of the reeds.

It never ceases to amase me how I can often revisit exactly the same location, and get a completely different shot with different light.

That's definitely true. For this reeds location, the more I revisited, the more different pictures I got. In December I was busy for my work, no other place to go except this location (less than 20km away from my home, so I can access easily):)

Santa is Alien-like, no? He's flying around in something that shouldn't, somehow stores all those presents in his transportation, is able to slow time (or is really quick) and goes around the world in one night, while he wears that outfit that no one would have dared to wear before hand.
