    Winter Sunset

The sunset was disappointing yesterday - just black clouds blotting out the whole western horizon... except for this one ray of light playing on the water. I sat watching it for a while and started to image mountain ranges and river deltas in the rippling sand... maybe I'm going nuts. Anyway, I liked colours... (best viewed full size)

Works for me Greg, I like the colours too, and the light. I guess you'd almost classify this as an abstract ?

Maybe! But, hey, so long as you're happy!

This is a cracker. If going nuts is part of developing the ability to have the vision and imagination to 'see' the possibile picture in a scene like this, then fine.

Dave and Donald, thanks for viewing and commenting.

Dave, I wondered about the notion of abstract. Maybe if I had been able to move in closer and focus just on the lines in the sand. But the distance from focal plane to subject was limited by the angle of reflection. Up close, the image did not exist.

Mad and happy, that's me, Donald! Learning to see is my big project. Mike took a picture of Australia and thought it was a light bulb

I can see how you envisioned mountain ranges and river deltas in the rippling sand. Nice vision and execution.

You are getting nuts Greg. Happens when you start seeing the light. Wonderful feeling though.

Very nice. Not an easy composition but you have caught just the right moment. This is spot on.

Very intriguing. This is the sort of image you could look at numerous times and find some new thing or interpretation each time. I agree with the others that if this is madness, it is a fine sort of madness.
