Is PS Elements Continuing? What form?

Someone posted an interview with Adobe in which adobe states Lightroom "is for photographers" and will remain a purchased product and NOT a subscription product like PS etc will become.

But what about Elements? It is also for photographers rather than graphic design houses. Will it cease to exist? Will it go subscription only? Or will it remain a one-fee purchasable software product like Adobe says Lightroom will stay?

Elements has some stiff competition these days, as we know, some of it in the form of free downloads. My guess is that it could be discontinued, especially if Adobe is experiencing a downturn in Sales.

Could layers be introduced parametrically into Lightroom? Don't even know if the question makes sense or how the UI could work, but it would certainly open up some possibilities.....

Thom Hogan and some others have suggested just that. Adobe could introduce layers and other photocentric functions as pluggins to Lightroom. Don't think too many would argue that it would be nice to do it all in one place.

My poorly educated guess is that Elements is a lead-in to Photoshop. Spend a little, get hooked, and go for the big program. I don't know if that function changes with Photoshop becoming subscription-only. If it is discontinued, I will happily use PSE 9 for the foreseeable future. But, since I got a survey about the nature of PSE 12, I think it might have a little life left in it.

They specifically mentioned Lightroom and stated it would continue "for photographers". But no mention I have seen of Elements. Has anyone seen any comment on it from Adobe?

The word "on the street" is that Elements will continue as is, as will LR.

But, in a world that changes, nothing is everlasting.
