    Chestnut-backed Chickadee, triad set

For these shots, apparently I was in the right place at the right time. I was looking for birds, and then suddenly I was surrounded by a large group of mixed species, chirping and feeding. At times, some were too close for my 400mm to focus on! It was a special experience, and I really love tiny birds, and how acrobatic and lively they are. C&C always appreciated. How is the PP on these? Thanks! Hope you enjoy.

    Hi Matt,
you stated "....I was in the right place at the right time.." you were for sure; but it still took you to capture these great shots.
Well done. They look good to me.
    Cheers

I agree. These are really wonderful - all of them. But I like the first one the best.

Very sharp and well composed with the reeds in the shot. Thanks for sharing.

You nailed this set, Matt. Nice comps on all three, great exposure, beautiful BG isolates the bird. The second shot is a rare case IMO where the bird's head is off-center looking out of frame and it works. That one is my fav of the set but I'd be proud with any one much less the set. Nicely done.

Dan, thanks a lot. Your comments mean a lot to me. Good call on the second shot. I tried it as a horizontal with more space to the right, and it just didn't work. I felt this comp worked well, I think it has to do with the angle of the body and head, and how it almost appears to be looking left or center, so that offsets the direction the beak is facing. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

Well done Matt, thanks for sharing. Your description of the experience of being surrounded by the small birds chirping and feeding is why we do nature photography, some memories stay with us. Great being in the right place at the right time.
