Making only the background of an image black and white?

Hi,

I have Photoshop Cs2 and I was wondering how to make only the background of an image black and white while leaving a person, or object in the foreground in colour?

I searched around the internet but could only find info for old version of photoshop.

thanks in advance for any help.

The easiest method.....

Duplicate the layer, desaturate the new top layer and erase the areas where you want the color to show through.....

Also you could convert your image to a black + white conversion and then use the history brush to revert to a previous state.
