Interesting pictures.
These are the Eastern tent caterpillar. They will strip a tree or other plant of vegetation and kill it. They morph into a very non-descript moth.
Now is the time when they are all busy eating.

The monsters are coming I agree that these shots do not do the spectacle justice and wonder if shooting them more from the side but still capturing the numbers than from above may help. Good luck with another attempt and hope they are still around.

Me again. I posted this picture in another thread, but hope you don't mind if I post it here? It is another image of the Eastern Tent caterpillar.
p.s. I identified my image as bagworms, which they are not.
