Impression of nudity - please don't open if it will disturb you

I was torn between posting this image and not posting it. However I really like the way I post processed it in NIK and CS-6. Since it shows nothing lurid or X-rated (certainly less than is seen on most beaches of today), I decided to post it with the caveat I placed in the title.

Impression of nudity - please don't open if it will disturb you

I don't usually shoot this type of image but it was a camera club outing several years ago. I was using my new NIK software to post-process some old images in my collection and I think that this is a lot better than the original...

BTW: I am not an experienced figure photographer and would appreciate any C&C....

I like it. Pose, frame, and lighting look good. I even like the edge treatment.

This was an edge treatment available in the NIK Software. It gives a somewhat old-time or rustic look to the image I learned however that if I want to use any of the NIK frames, I must leave some extra room for the image. The frame is applied within the image itself, not outside the image like placing a frame using the Image - Canvas Size commands in Photoshop. If I crop the subject too tightly, the frame will encroach on the subject...

Nice shot Richard. My only comment would be that the image could have been a tiny bit wider. When I look at it now, it feels a bit cramped on left and right.

Richard, very nice image. I like the PP you did. And there is nothing wrong with posting this kind of image, IMO. It does not show anything imoral. Cheers...

Peter, I cropped it in a narrow mode for two resons - first because it eliminated some distracting elements which would have been a PITA to eliminate otherwise and secondly because I think that the narrow cropping gives this image an appearance of an old icon-type image...

    Nice image, lovely pensive expression.

Shame we have to make these extra riders in the title.

I like very much the result of the processing, very beautiful image.
Actually, it gives only an impression of nudity, while it's rather a great portrait!

Thank you for commenting, Christina and Joanne. I was wondering what the female members of CiC would think about this image.

I always try not to be sexist but, I have to admit that I find the female form more pleasing than the male anatomy...

It's a gorgeous photo and I would love to see more of them, as I'm sure many others would.

and many would agree including the great artists of the world.

Nice use of the hands as a pictorial element.

Very good portrait Ridchard. The poses of this model with the eyes cast down are modest , not provocatives. Am I to understand that it was a planned studio session with a pro model and the members of your camera club all tacking pictures?

Louise, Actually, there were only two of us on that shoot at any one time. Additionally the two photographers did not shoot concurrently but took turns directing the model and we were able to place the lights the way we wanted them and pose her the way we wanted. She also offered suggestions as to the posing.

She was not a professional model and was trading posing for images she could use in her modeling portfolio. We each totalled out to about thirty minute of individual shooting, but we did not keep track of time with a stopwatch...

Each pair of shooters had a total of about an hour to shoot with her and then two more photographers had the second hour. I don't know how long she posed that day because I was in the first pair of photographers and left soon after I finished shooting. The studio in which we were shooting was too small for us to hang around in after we had finished shooting.

I have done multiple shoots with aspiring models who traded posing time for images. It is a win-win sitution. However, I don't usually go on shoots with nude or semi nude models. I also don't do "cheesecake" at all! I don't really like the "cheesecake" effect!

I also would not like shooting in a large group like this

Impression of nudity - please don't open if it will disturb you

Just joking... That was a zoo shoot not a model shoot!

One of my favorite venues to shoot is a local beauty school. I have done this several times. The school basically closes down for an afternoon and there are several large rooms which we use for studios. Some of us carry our lights and backgrounds to the school and set up. The advantage of this venue is that we have the advanced hairdresser and make-up artist students preparing the models AND correcting things liked smuged makeup and hair out of place during the shoot; which is quite important.

Basically most of this shooting is head and shoulders stuff... Both to show-off the makeup and the hairdos. The aspiring models, hairdressers, make-up artists and school all get images...

I have found that when I have a hairdresser and MUA on any shoot, I have to do far less post processing to get the portraits right. However, when I first shot there, it seemed like the makeup was applied a bit heavy. Then, I realized that photo makeup is a bit different from street makeup.
