Singleton
Singleton is a term used in mathematics. It means a set with exactly one element. I'm not trying to be too clever with this title. It's what jumped into my mind when I looked at this image. Comments welcomed.

Re: Singleton
I like it Karm! The woman is so small in the frame but a very nice focal point as you captured her thoughtful posture nicely.

Re: Singleton
This is great. Takes a moment to realize where the subject is, but then she's impossible to ignore. Maybe it's just my poor eyes and coke-bottle glasses, but that area kind of hums and appears to twitch like an optical illusion. Brightening the dark areas in the slats by selective contrast reduction or dodging would probably help.

Re: Singleton
That is wonderful. But ..........
All I seem to do with Karm's images is suggest cropping, like here, but I again wondered if the bottom line of the balcony rising up to the right at the bottom of the frame, makes the over all image work better than if it was not there.
If you click on it to view it in the Lightroom and then move the image down so that the bottom goes out of view on the screen to just the bottom edge of the balcony at the right hand side, does that strenghten or weaken what is, whichever way you take it, a wonderful picture?

Re: Singleton
Hey Donald, you're right. I'll re-post. I see the big picture of things; however, I still struggle getting to the gist of the image.

Re: Singleton
I tried the crop too but somehow for me it gave the subject more prominence which I felt was wrong, especially for the title of the image. For me the crop also took away the 'fact' of the balcony which adds to the singleton feel.

Re: Singleton
Kaye, thanks. I'll try Donald's suggestion and post it. I'll see if I agree with you. I think I understand your conclusion.

Re: Singleton
The new crop is an improvement. I like the wide aspect ratio - very different from normal people shots.

Below is an alternative modification of the original picture that that I also thought about.
