The Cornfield, The Sunken Road, The Dunker Church and Burnside's Bridge are all significant in that they were venues for the Battle of Antietam which resulted in being the "bloodiest day in U.S. history" and which was the impetus for issuance of the Emancipation Proclimation.

It also exposed the Union Leadership of the Army of the Potomac as totally incompetent even though the battle was deemed a Union Success in that they held the field while the Confederate forces retreated.

    Hi, Brian and welcome.

I checked out your Antietam thread and enjoyed it very much, particularly your treatment of fences. Your "Old Sign" and "End of Fence" were my favorites. Glad to have you here.
