    Both are great captures Jack - I like the first because you have a clearer view of the bird and its environment and the second because of the action. If pressed I would say that #1 is stronger only because in the second it's harder to see the features of the bird due to the angle of shooting. Love the suspended water drops in both!

    Very much a case of taking just an everyday event and making a very impressive picture from it.

    As said above, both are great captures.

    I (and I'm sure others) was interested in the shutter speed used for the frozen drops, so I reproduce the EXIF data here:

    Canon EOS 5D Mark III 560mm, at 1/2500s, f/4.5 and 500 iso (both shots identical)

    #1 iso 640 and #2 iso 500 was using auto iso tv at 1 /2500s
