Shutter actuations check on canon 7D

    Hi all,

How can I check the shutter actuations on a camera. I hope, what I mean by that is what it is. (the number of times the camera shutter has worked to take pictures. ). I'm asking this in relation to the canon 7D. Help me out with your valuable advises please.

    Thanks
    Hari

If the camera has been set to number the captures continuously -- and not reset at any time -- then the number on the last shot taken, or on the next shot, should give you an indication. That is, if I understand your question correctly.

Of course, if you're not the original owner, there's a pretty good chance that it was NOT set up in the way that Greg mentions. In that case you have a couple of options.

    1) You can go to a 3rd party firmware available for Canon cameras, Magic Lantern (which I'm a brand new convert to, and huge fan by the way), which will give you an accurate, up to date reading of the shutter count right on your camera LCD screen.

    2) If option 1 doesn't interest you, you will have to go to a third party software that can read the shutter count on your 7D while attached to your PC or Mac. There are several versions available if you're a Mac user - which I'm not, so I can't help you, but if you use PC, please visit www.astrojargon.net and you'll find what you're looking for.
