    First moon shot

After getting my hands on a used Minolta 75-300mm I photographed the moon. It is heavily cropped.

As always, C&C is always welcome.

    I think that's a pretty good first.

If you want to compare and contrast with other moon shots, click on Discussion Categories from the menu bar and choose 'Astrophotography' from the list provided. There are lots of them (and discussions about the subject) in there.

Donald, thanks for the link. Read through some of them and it was definitely beneficial for those who want to shoot the moon.

John thanks for the positive word

Very nice for 300mm, sharp and detailed. My efforts with 300mm are not quite as good though I have achieved a degree of satisfaction imaging Lunar with a telescope.

That is a very good capture, Steven. It looks slightly underexposed for my personal preference but you got very good detail in the craters for a 300 mm.

Great work - First shot ?

I don't want to doubt you, it sure looks like you know what you are doing!

I sure won't be putting my first shot up on here with one like this.
And I have a 300, I will have to get out and try.

    Re: First moon shot

Paul, Dan this is a heavily cropped photo. Otherwise, there is no way a 300mm could have achieve the details.

Robin, this photo was part of my first moon shoot of about 20 photos, how many POV could a moon offer so, on that basis I called it my "First moon shot" and not a literal first press of the shutter shoot of the moon.

    Regard
    Steven
