    Raindrops on Vinca

I took this image a couple of weeks ago when it was drizzling rain. (I guess we all have to do at least one shot of a flower with a raindrop on it ) I thought I would 'test' the close-up capabilties of the canon kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm). This was hand-held and I moved in until the flower was out of focus, then backed off a little. I was happy with the result: the focus was a bit soft, though it would probably have been a bit better with a tripod. So I have done a bit of sharpening in Photoshop CS3 and removed some the background clutter and cropped about 30%. I also tried to darken the larger flower behind the main one, but I have found that a bit difficult. Still plenty to learn in PS.

    Agreed, very appealing.
Needs to be seen at the large size to truly appreciate.

A pleasing shot and a good choice to test your lens.

A very quiet, calming image. Lots to explore in the detail of the very sharp flower. Good application of DoF makes the main subject really 'pop'.
