    Marmoset

This little beautiful guy just appeared when I was shooting some birds, last week. So I thought: "Why not?"

    C&C welcome. Thanks for viewing.

Otavio, you have done a fairly good job blurring the cage out, except for the last image it is seen more easily. Well done, but I do have to say....that is one creepy looking critter.

Thanks Paul. Well, I think this little guy is more friendly than creepy, it is no more than 20 cm (8 inches) tall! I was in a park shooting birds and he appeared in one of the environments. It is a peaceful guy!

    Thanks for viewing!

Hi Kevin, this is a small monkey ("Mico Sagui"). Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmoset.

This one is from the MICO genera.

I like #1 as we can see its full face and his thick coat of fur.

Very popular as a pet over here. The only thing creepy about them is when you do not have them wear a nappy.
Many people abanbon them when they start doing their business all over the furniture.

    Well done Otavio.

    Thanks for viewing, Andre.

Just for my knowledge, do you mean you guys, in South Africa, have a similar type of Mico native to south Africa or this ones raised as pets are exactly the same type of the one showed here, brought to South Africa?

    Regards...

They are imported from Brazil. Highly illegal to keep any indiginous animal as pet. You may only keep indiginous animals with a special permit.
Lots of birds and animals from South America in cages in SA.

    Re: Marmoset

Hi Andre. That is what I thought. Sometimes we see, on TV/news, some dealers caught by authorities, when trying to export (ilegally, of course) wild animals. It's a crime, punished here with a 6 to 12 months jail + fine. If I would try to ilegally have one (although I would never do it) in my house, probably I would be denounced and arrested, as nowadays, luckily, it is pretty much against the society's common sense, besides being against the law. Nevertheless, the dealers always find a way, both senders and receivers, to practice this nonsense business...

    Thanks for the reply. Regards...
