Painted Buntings...Almost Mirror Images of Male and Female

Yesterday my wife and I were photographing the Painted Buntings at the visitor center of Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. When sorting and culling I realized I had captured a male and female on the same branch in almost identical poses. C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Hi Joe. Nice pictures! #1 has pretty nice colors! If I am not wrong, this is even the same branch!? I mean, one left the place for the other to take it and pose for your shot? Well done, and thanks for sharing. Cheers.

The word painted is certainly right for this one.

Great shots as usual and what are the odds of catching a male and female on the same branch and same post. Easier winning a lottery I would think.

    Excellent...

Hello Bobo, very colorful bird. To me one of the most beautiful in North America, always featured on covers of bird books and magazines.

Hi Joe: That's a way to de-saturate I haven't thought of. You sure have access to some great birds. Very nice.

Thanks Bud, very much appreciated. One of the great aspects of living in Florida is a wonderful variety of birds, a bird photographers paradise.

Hey Joe, the bird gods were with you. Hard enough to get one bird. Male and female on the same branch in the same pose, wow. Congrat.

Joe I dont consider these great shots luck. I often see that birds in courtship will follow each other from perch to perch or continue returning to a favorite perch. Either way you knew enough to wait for the other bird so I credit it more to your knowledge and understanding of their habits. A great series . beautifully done.

Thanks Alfred, I appreciated you taking time to view and comment. They were going back and forth to a feeder outside the Merritt Island NWR visitor center. The branch was a open spot for them to perch.
