    Fuji sd8000, lens filters?

The fuji sd 8000 has female threads for a lens filter, but I am not aware of anyone that manufactures them.

I looked up your camera and it fits 58 mm filters. You can pretty much buy them at any retail camera or online shop. Recommend a good quality multi-coating filter to avoid soft images, ghosting, and flare. Polarizing is definitely a must have in your bag.

Quality filter brands are B+W, Heliopan, Nikon, and upper end Hoyas are good.

Polarizing filters are meant to be used to reduce reflections (by 80%), increase saturation in blue skies, and whiten white clouds. It's basically sunglasses for your camera. These filters do not make good general purpose protective covers, and will mess up your camera's exposure readings indoors.

A clear UV haze filter is for general purpose. But some fun filters to play with are cross or star effect filters, soft, FLW (fluorescent or magenta) for evening city shots, warming, and ND (neutral density).

Hoya makes some nice inexpensive filter kits that would be great starters for under $60 USD. But don't go over board if you later want to upgrade to a full dslr. The most popular filter size are 52, 72, 77, and 82 respectively.

If I'm correct, my camera takes a 38.1 mm lens filter, which as far as I know is not manufactured anywhere. I have found a kit to mount filters magnetically though! http://www.cokin.com/ico15-B.html Thanks everyone for the heads up on various filters! I appreciate it!

Oh sorry, Ben. Did I look up the wrong camera when I googled? Anyhoo, that is a very odd sized filter diameter. I doubt you will be able to find filters for it (unless Fuji makes filters specifically for that camera) unless an adapter.
