I like it not because of its overall aesthetic qualities but because I almost feel part of the scene. It is very interesting to study the detail and it is obviously a very clear evening. Makes me want to visit The Netherlands again.

    I agree about the quality. It's a well-crafted image.

I see a couple of stars in the sky and wonder if they, in fact, are a bit of distraction. At first I wondered if they were dust spots on my monitor.

Nice image Scott. Even though the weather was cold, the image to me has a certain warmth to it (from the lighting) and the reflections on the canal add a lot. IMO the image is well composed and you've managed the exposure and other technical aspects very well. I think I've been on a cruise along there.

Agreed with all of the above. Also great white balance in a situation that I imagine could have been very difficult.

Scott I have one problem with this image. I may not sign my name on it.

    Hi Scott,

I really like it; there are so many things right about it, as others have said.

However, there is something about it that bothers me - many of the buildings appear to be leaning a little to the left - and yet the lamps and their reflections appear to be dead vertical across the frame. Perhaps it is subsidence?

Dave, I would say subsidence is the answer, judging by the lamps and reflections, as you mentioned.

Scott, nothing to say about your image, except that, to me, it is a keeper! Well done...

That's a funny thing is, so many buildings here are that way! I have a couple shoots where they are in all sorts of directions.

You get used to it and it adds a bit of charm to the city!

    Darn you Donald!!!
Now that you've said that I've been fixated by those darn stars! I think I'll pull them out and see how it looks.

I like the stars.... kinda wish there were more and a tad brighter. This is a superb capture. I keep thinking Crisp Clear & Cold. We will be waiting for more of your work Scott.

No C&C, all I can say is I like the image.

I have never been there, but the scene is like scenes I have taken in Italy and Czech Republic.
Your photo makes me homesick to get back to Europe.
