    Take the Camera Configurator Test

See if it matches the camera of your choice or is it biased. I will say that even though I chose Nikon as my preference, the configurator selected the Canon EOS 1DX based on my shooting preferences.

Re: Take the Camera Configurator Test

Maybe Canon is paying the website more than the other manufacturers. Despite that I also selected Nikon as my preference, it recommended a $6800 Canon camera.

The website did get it right in that it recommended that an entry-level DSLR would fit my needs almost as well as a pro DSLR. The entry-level category lost out to a pro category only by the tiniest amount. Sadly, it did not recommend a specific entry-level DSLR.

I do like this test quite a lot. I can now show my wife that, despite the website's recommendation, I saved $5600.

Re: Take the Camera Configurator Test

In my case it recommended the same, even though I chose a couple of options (memory type and make) that should have pointed my results elsewhere. I suspect the "configurator" is broken...

I confirm the theme; EOS 1DX. Not being a conspiracy theorist, and believing everything I read, this obviously means this is the best camera for everyone. I intend to throw my Nikon D700 into the trash immediately. Good thing I was made aware of this before I took more inadequate images with an inferior choice.

EOS 1DX for me - I wonder how I will get my lenses on it.

Trevor the great artist who sold you his soul did not write the CON figurator test by any chance?

    Trevor,

Before throwing your D700 in the trash, please keep in mind that I'll be happy to pay the shipping costs as a favor so you can use my trash can rather than encumber yours with photo equipment. Not knowing how generous I am, you probably didn't realize that I would be so willing.

This is an amazingly generous offer so I will help out on the same terms for all your lenses.

Gee. It was a 1Dx for me too. And I went ahead and said I prefer Olympus, just to see if that might elicit a different response.

I am (almost) tempted to try again, but to answer that the color if the camera is critical, and that it must fit in a purse, and I won't print bigger than 5x7, and that the LCD screen is really important, etc... just to see if EVERYONE gets 1Dx.

Aw, dangit. Now I have to try again...

OK. I did it like a point and shoot, and I got 3 choices: a Fujifilm, a Samsung, and then a Canon P&S.

1DX here, too, although I said I really really wanted color choice and for it to fit in my purse, use SD cards, LCDs rock, and I have no brand preference at all. I guess a budget over $600 automatically boots to the 1DX. If I switched budget, it sent me to entry level dSLRs from Canon/Nikon/Sony. There are apparently a) no pro cameras other than the 1DX, b) no prosumer dSLRs, and c) no mirrorless cameras. (snort).

I looove my Panasonic G3. In white. Fits in my purse just fine.

Probably; he has no soul so any nefarious scheme is fair game. However; investment banking and politics are probably a bit too far at this point.

Thanks Mike and Paul; your kind offers are evidence of magnanimous souls. However given the inherent evil of this substandard equipment, I have decided to minimize the exposure and accept the risk of use myself. I have already been compromised and I would hate to see you spiral into the vortex yourselves.

Everything about your explanation was fine, Trevor, except for the horrible use of the pun. You really should be ashamed of yourself for that. The only repentance that I could accept as being truly genuine is if you would change your mind and allow me to send you the shipping fee.

I am confused. I limited my choice to $300-$600, and it recommended a Rebel TI at $648. When was $648 between $300 and $600?

It suggested some Canon heap of metal costing $6700 ... I'd accept it as a gift so I could sell it and buy the camera of my choice
