Beautiful detail and exposure control, Steve. I really like the simplicity of the background. I dont know if you intended it purposely or as it was presented, but I think it adds a level of interest to have the bird facing to our left rather than right.

I like the DOF that does not begin at the foreground and the simplicity of this scene. It's really nice. This one gives me the feeling of cold more than your brighter deer pictures. Even so, I'm thinking maybe I need to visit my relatives in West Virginia and play in the snow!
