    Storm Coming

This formation happens daily at this time of year just off the north coast of Darwin. The Tiwi Islands heat up during the day and cause the clouds to rise up. Locals call it "Hector". I am hoping to photograph it this season much larger but this is the best I could do last weekend. c&C welcome

    Great capture Wayne!

From what you describe I am guessing that the left side of the formation may be as well defined as the right side. If that is the case, it would be worth going pano if necessary to capture the entire phenomenon.

I suspect that like a sunrise/sunset, the conditions change rapidly over time so a number of 'views' should be possible. I also like how the foreground provides a good sense of scale.

Thanks Frank, "Hector usually has two distinct ends which is what I was hoping for but it went a bit far out this time. Still well worth a shot but I'll be looking to improve on it.

A beautiful cloud shot. Good exposure to keep from blowing out the brilliant, white tops. It's winter up here in North America; that water looks very inviting!

Not so inviting Paul. We have crocodiles the size of your average Cadillac around here and if they dont get you, the sharks will. Sometimes I wonder why we live here?

Thanks Terri. I didnt have any luck with photographing clouds until I used the polariser. It sure helps to define them.
