A great start to JanuWednesFest, Bobo! I love the image. Maybe cloning out the shadow on the far left of the image would strengthen it a little more...?
I agree with Phil on the shadow. But I really think you accomplished your goal. Clever idea - put a smile on my face! thanks.
Thanks Phil and Terri.
I tried that but made the image worse. The sharp edge that results makes it look as if there is something missing on the left edge. The shadow area around the shoulder area empasises this edge sharpness. Atm that shadow on the edge sort of counter-balances the shoulder shadow.
The other option is to remove the shadow on the left and blur the object.
May need to re-shoot this and let DOF take care of the left edge?
These projects certainly have a way of making one look at each part in some detail. That is a good thing of course.
Bobo, very nice indeed. Great idea, great execution and proper title.
Cheers
Thanks Jon.
I anticipate problems down the road but we shall see...
Fascinating idea, Bobo! Did you consider cropping more off the top?
Thanks Mike.
Well I was thinking of using the 50/1.4 with lights and glass but then remembered that you are doing that so had to switch track. No mini-studio or fancy lights here so have to use whatever is handy to model the object and play with the light.
Started today to read that Light, Science and Magic book though. First thing it did was put me to sleep so not a bad start.
Great idea with the top crop. Worked to fix the left side issue. New issue is emphasis goes to the shadow.
Hey Bobo, I'm neither here nor there on the shadow. Might look a little cleaner without it, I guess - but it's not a deal breaker for me.
I think you nailed your 'objective' of this mini-project with your first shot.
Thanks Andrew.
This was off the cuff in many ways. Hopefully the creative juices are flowing next week.
Way to go, Bobo. Nothing new to add. I am right there with Phil.
An interesting idea Bobo and a clever title.
Look forward to your image next week.
Cheers, Greg
Thanks Paul, Greg.
I am going to leave this alone for this week and start looking around for something suitable on Monday next. If I kept thinking about this all the time might make it more pressure/stress prone then it should be.
Week 2.
Frodo The Millionaire decides to take his Mercedes-Benz 300s out for a spin. Hits a tree at the edge of a cliff.
"Oh my! THAT is a long drop!"
Details -
Keychain + merc 300s scale model + tissue for tree shadow + top of refrigerator for perspective.
3 image stack shot from below and side.
5D3, 70-300L, double tissue diffused remote manual flash set on top of tall lamp pointed slightly up to ceiling and into corner behind objects.
Oh that is great and so creative! I can just see you in the kitchen with all your gear, moving lamps and such. The things the families of artists put up with.
The only minor thing bothering me is the bright spot on the wheel. But I love it!
Thanks Terri.
Artist <> bobo. Definitely <> bobo.
Wife collects trinkets from every place we visit so it is not so difficult to pair them for some odd looking shots.
Sorry, missed that spot. Won't repost just yet. Instead will post all the redone images once this project is over.
Very clever photo Bobo,
You certainly have given life to your objects. Frodo does look very concerned.
Im really enjoying JanuWednesfest, some very creative images are being posted.
Keep up the good work all involved.
Cheers, Greg
Nice...I think your "creative juices" are flowing.
Thanks Greg and Jon.
Gets harder with each passing week...
