    Pied KF

After a couple of days of hard work, I finally got the shots I wanted. This guy started his stunts of hovering and diving just a couple of meters away from me and I was able to take a few quick shots. These two are the best of the lot (RAW conversion/PP was done in ACR):

    1. Tv at 1/800, Aperture: f/6.3, ISO (auto): 1250, Spot metering.

    Pied KF

    2. Tv at 1/800, Aperture: f/5.6, ISO (auto): 250, Spot metering

    Pied KF

C&C most welcome. Thanks in advance.

    Bedanta,

These are fantastic! I think the first one is a little hard to process on first glance - the way the head and beak are turned make them blend in to the body a bit. It is still a fantastic capture, and I love the way the wings are shaped in that one.

The second one is perfect though. The only thing I might change would be the positioning of the bird in the frame. As it is, I'd be tempted to nudge it up just a tiny little bit so that the bottom third of the image is clear. Alternatively, I think it would make for a very nice exaggerated vertical image with just the bird in the top third and nothing but blue in the bottom 2/3rds - I think that would look cool printed and hanging on a wall like that.

Either way - these are fantastic!

    Great captures Bedanta,

I like Bill's idea for the second one.

My suggestion would be to just give a little push on the mid-tones - I'd do that with the grey point in Levels dialog, others might use Curves, but the end result is likely to be similar.

Really wish I could get this close to one.

    Well done,

Hi Bedanta. Long time since your last thread, if I´m not wrong. Very nice shots! Maybe I would also try Bill's idea on #2 (cropping the left 1/3 blue sky and adding a botton 2/3 of the same blue sky). Anyway, both are great shots the way they are!! Keep sharing!

    Cheers!
