Love the eyes - not so sure about the flies but all part of the picture (Perhaps PSE should have a fly-remove plug in!). Have gone for a very tight crop here - C&C welcome.

Although the flies are not necessarily beautiful, they are an integral part of this really nice capture.

BTW... I like the close crop!

HOw about a close crop of that face with THOSE EYES! and forgetting the nasty flies altogether!!!

Although, I really love the detail on her wrinkled fur around the shoulder!

    Really lovely Dave!

I had that thought as well, but would look at a crop just behind (to the left, as we look at it, of) the shoulder, so that it kept those folds in the coat. But it would throw attention very much onto those eyes, which are just fantastic.

It would have to be a rectangular crop because of the black ground just to the right of her mouth. I think the black area is needed to keep visual balance and the angles of the shoulder and ears are so slanted.

Gosh, I really want to run my fingers thru her coat! (a sign of a great photo, IMHO)

    Nice kitty, stupid flies .

Dave where did you take this? Doesn't look like a zoo.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

No indeed! Busanga Plains, Kafue National Park, Zambia. (BTW lions do tend to keep the flies off humans ) These are actually well known as the tree climbing lions of Busanga, but when we were there they stayed strictly terrestrial!

I've tried the closer crop, and (re-)applied a bit of vignetting to keep the attention in the middle. I do like it - I think it's interesting how there can be many photos in one shot, but I often don't see the possibilities. I've also tried the really close head only crop, but I think this is better. Thanks again to CiC.
