James, I think your deer images are getting better every time you go out. These are very nice. I would say the first one is my favorite but after seeing the third I am not sure. I love the light and fog. If the faces were just a little sharper it would make the choice easy. Nicely done James. It is not that they are soft due to focus just shade I think. Not really an issue.
Nice ones James! I hope to be up by the NC/TN border in Asheville on Sunday/Monday and would LOVE to be able to get shots like these! I did get up to Cataloochee and saw the Elk about two weeks ago but wasn't able to get a good shot.
Hi Paul, I tried to bring out some eye detail but everything I tried just made the grass glare even worse . Thanks for the compliment. I feel like I am getting better too. I am just trying to develope my own style (get out there before dawn try to anticipate were they are and where they are going) I notice I have been using my 200 more than my 400 lately. due to light.
Hi Frank,
I am glad you got to see some .. sorry you couldnt get any shots.. There are some gorgeous hikes up there. I saw your biltmore shot, the (grotesques) Found your write up very interesting. would love to see any other shots you got out there.
I may have spelt that wrong..... ps in Tn. spelt is a word .
The mist in the 3rd, I think, makes this a special shot. Sparkle from dew? on the grass in the foreground just adds to the ambience. It seems like such a peaceful time and place, how could they be fighting? Ah--boys!!!
Thanks for posting.
I love #1 and #2 but absolutely love #3. Lovely.
Must try to get out earlier to catch some this winter....
Nice captures James especially that third one. In the third image it looks like the sun was lighting up the mist and it was very bright. Maybe an extra EV stop would have helped with the details in the bucks. Just my ¢¢.
Very nice shots james. I really like the third one, good stuff right there. Don't be afraid of that iso button.
Great shots James. My favorite is the third, the bucks with antlers locked. The details of the bucks were lost in shadows which I thought could be improved. I took the liberty of saving and opening your image in Adobe Lightroom 4. In the Basic Module of Develop I moved the Shadows slider to the right opening the shadows. I posted it here to show how the shadows can be opened and the detail shown. If you would like me to delete this post I will.
These are nice, James. Between #1 & #2, I like the crop/composition better in #1. #3 is a great capture. I like the feel of the early morning fog.
Always like to see your deer shots! Thanks for sharing them.
Joe thanks for showing me the possibilities. It does not bother me a bit that you reworked that, anytime you or anyone else wants to please feel free. It is kind of flattering to me that you would take the time to do so. My pp skills are slow in learning. I shall look into this lightroom program, would that compliment elements 9?
Thanks Terri as I always look forward to your foxes.
