    Eye See You!

Just a little practice with some post processing - would appreciate any C & C, but I'm not looking for anything specific, so fire away!

    Very cool, Andrew!

When I saw this the first thing that came to mind was going another step and making it a vertically slit pupil!

That's quite a startling image when you first see it. Apart from perhaps an eye surgeon, it maybe takes many of us out of our comfort zone in terms of close ups of the human body.

Image-wise, I wonder if we're seeing too much skin left and top-left. But maybe this is unfair comment and you had an idea in mind by including it.

I must take a closer look at my eyes. Fascinating.

Hi Donald, startling is OK, but I hope I don't make too many people uncomfortable. As for the skin, my only reasoning was that I didn't want the pupil dead centre. Left of the eye, was very textured, and had more hair, so it competed with the texture in the eye, so I didn't want it pupil left. That's my only reasoning.

Thanks for taking time to comment!

Be interesting to see where the catchlight would be most effective!

Thanks Jon, not sure if anyone would consider it a 'good photograph', but I'm glad it inspired you - let me know how you make out!

    Re: Eye See You!

Really kewl! I don't find it creepy at all. I think the second "partial outline" at the bottom outside of the iris is a little wide at the widest point. If you are trying to show the shape of the eye with this outline, I'm not sure it works with that much space between the two lines. I think it makes the eye look mishappen --and draws my eye from from the pupil. I might clean-up some of the veins on the inner corner --leave some, but it's distracting to me with some many!

    Wow, What really good fun!

    Re: Eye See You!

Thanks Gretchen!! I am going to try to clean up some of those veins, I think you're right, and that's a good idea. As for the outline around the iris, believe it or not, that's natural - I didn't add that, or enhance it in any way. I noticed it before you commented, and really can't figure out what it is or from.

It's the same tone as the shadows from the eyelashes, and so I originally thought it may be a very, very tiny shadow from the raised iris. But it's on the same side as the light source, camera right. So, I'm totally at a loss.

Guess we'll just have to wait for the resident C in C eye specialist to chime in! Thanks again!

Thanks Andre - I'll skip the Optometrist appointment for this year!! You pretty much nailed it! He's a fantastically healthy 5 year old boy, who does not wear glasses, and to the best of my knowledge at least, he does not use drugs, and only occasionally has a sip of red wine.

And cheeky. Andre, you can't even imagine!

    Thanks for the reply!

Here is a 45 year old eye that does not smoke, but I cant say too much about the rest of its history...

    Eye See You!

Not near the quality of your shot Andrew. Very little PP done. Your 5 year old eye has a much better look and color to it. As my wife says, my eyes are brown because I am a plumber and full of sh*t up to my eyeballs.

Nice job Jon - I'm happy you were able to try it out! I knew there was a reason I have brown eyes - I'm not a plumber, mind you. Don't let my wife hear that one, she may adopt it for her own!

I think I will try this with my wifes eyes next. She has the neatest green eyes. (yes I am sucking up to the wife a little bit)
