    Up In The Air

We took a drive in the country today and came across these hang glider enthusiasts on the Beechmont Range just inland from the Gold Coast. I've never done this sort of photography before but thought I would give it a go. I would be pleased to hear what you think.

    Hi Dave,

Probably no surprise, but #3, is my favourite and the only way it might be improved was if, shortly before or after this was taken, the body of the parachutist were shot in front of the lighter grass and not the darker trees.

    I also like #4.

    Well done,

Thanks Glenn and Dave for your comments. They are much appreciated.

Glenn I was quite close to the action - I was actually standing at the take off point. The guy in #3 was just in the process of taking off.

Dave I actually prefer #4 over #3 but I agree that #3 would have been better if the guy was where you suggested. You have to work so fast with this sort of shot though and it's difficult to account for shutter lag (if that's the right term !).

Seems this would be a good time for continuous shooting mode

However, if you're trying to 'get it right in camera' and not cheat with continuous like I would, that's fine.

Yes I think so Dave. I was un-prepared for these shots as they were spur of the moment. But I've never done much continuous shooting anyway. These "targets" were larger and slower than birds so they weren't as big a challenge as shooting birds in flight.
