Hi Steve - Love the 2nd one - such a great expression - but I would probably crop a fair bit from the rigth side of the photo and also clone out the foreground bits of grass. In the first I think there is too much empty space on the right especially since Shosh is looking slightly to the left side. Were these both taken with the same lens?

Yes, they were taken with a 17-55mm stock lens on a canon 550D. I was laying bellydown on the grass talking to her. Thanks for te advice, I'll crop one as you suggest and re-post it :-)

Nice try Steve. This crop works much better I think.

Unfortunately your try to remove the unwanted elements wasn't a great success so I recomend you try again some times from now when your skills would have been improved. The CiC community is full of people willing to offer help!

For the last "portrait" my suggestion is to redcue some of the noise, to enhance the shadows and reduce the impact of the highlights and also apply a PP (post-prossecing) vignetting. If you have Lightroom it is actually very easy to accomplish all these tasks while there are more software are also great. Youtube and the internet in general are full with free tutorials you can start with.

I like both shots but, #2 is a great image... I like the crop version best!
