Sea and sand, development of an image

    Morning all,
    Comments welcome as always.
As I was driving into work, I saw this cloud.
Nice cloud, I wonder if there is anything to go with it?

I walk onto the beach and as approached the crest, I saw the haze obscuring the horizon and I remembered the ongoing discussion about low contrast shots.

As I crested the rise I was thinking forground interest, and I saw this leaf (seagrape leaf) in this shaft of light.

One composition later a relaxing, low contrast shot.

    Hi Graham,

No it is not morning but afternoon here.
Cannot help to wonder what it might have looked like if you set WB to 6800K????

Lucky you, to take a walk on a beach before work.

    Warmer - yes, but ...............!

Maybe the original felt 'brighter' and more vibrant?

All down to taste and personal preference.

    Thanks Graham,

As Donald says, taste and preference.
Interesting how the mood can change with a single setting.

Having come down here from Toronto, I find the 'golden hour' to be vastly shorter here. Makes it more challenging. I have to identify the site, get everything set up and ready to go. So far I've found 10 minutes and it's all over.
I miss Toronto, although friends there find it difficult to imagine - especially since winter is on its way (swimming pools are being closed).

As to the two versions, I prefer the first one, being more vibrant. The second one just feels to manipulated to me, but I was there and my experience flavours the appreciation of the images differently.
    Graham
