My.Secret.Lake
I like to walk rail tracks. About two hours into my rail walk I came across the beautiful little lake in this photo. It was idyllic -- no kids, no houses, no cars, no power lines, no cars, no bathrooms, no people, no playgrounds, no over flight jets, no roads, no "no trespassing signs" and no noise. Bass and bluegill where chasing low flying packets of protein. Tomorrow evening I'll return with my fly rod and see if I can't have some fun.

Re: My.Secret.Lake
Now, that does indeed sound idyllic.

Re: My.Secret.Lake
Hi Karm. While you're in such a state of solitude, perhaps I can suggest you try cropping off the bottom of the image beginning at the bottom of the circular ripples on the right side. I find the bright reflections at the lower portion of the photo constantly tugs at my eye away from the more serene portion of the image in the middle. By cutting it off, you would be left with a very peaceful body of water and only one bright area in the sky. Just a suggestion for you to consider. If you like the image as is, good, stay with it.

Re: My.Secret.Lake
If I was going to crop the image I would remove the top part of the image down until the blown out area in the sky was gone, one would remove from the botton another, would remove from the top. This is an excellent example of how different people can see the same image, yet see something else differently.
Cheers:

Hi Polari01, on my software's histogram the sun is not blown out.

Re: My.Secret.Lake
This really is an idyllic setting, Karm. When you return to go fly fishing, I sure do hope you take someone with you so you can capture their fishing line in a long, gorgeous curve being strongly lit by the low sun as the fly is being cast. :)
Another suggestion for a crop is to remove enough of the sky to eliminate the sun. Just one of many viable presentations of a gorgeous scene. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

Here's the same image without the sun or its reflection.

Here's the same image with only the sun's reflection.

Re: Edits.My.Secret.Lake
Of the last three, I like the first one best. For me, the sun or its reflection in the other two images competes too much with the other details of the scene. I would like the first one even more if the concentric circles in the water were more in the center of the image; something to consider when you return to the scene.
