    Rock 'n Roll Hootchie Coo

Rick Derringer was once asked what advice he would have for up and coming young guitarists looking to break into the music biz.

    His reply:

“Don’t leave your wallet in the dressing room”!

These guys are the Drop Outs and they open for the Osmond Bros.

And this one just because I kind of liked it!

They are very good. They, I think, capture atmosphere and that's what shots like this should do

    Thank you, Donald.

I have shot three or four bands at this particular venue. The stage lighting is horrific and I'm finding I'm not able to shoot under the ambient. Just requires too much ISO value even wide open at f2.8. So I have to burn 'em with a flash!

While it would be nice to bring in some lighting, I am pretty much relegated to what I can hand hold or put on a bracket. To add to that I have only so many POV’s I can use. For example there isn’t a 360* vantage and I can’t get around behind them at all. The drummers are pretty much hidden.

I guess what I am saying is that, while I like these shots and the bands always like them, I need to try some new ideas to keep this interesting.

I have a couple of things in mind that I might give a whirl next time out.
