Now you're just showing off! :)
I think I can get 3 words; "day with" and "photo" ;)
I don't normally criticise 'the master' (of sunsets), but, possibly because you have optimised for print, I am seeing an unnatural bright edge above the foreground rocks.
Also, I think the right hand 10 - 12% is superfluous.
Otherwise, very nice as usual, I'm sure it will sell.
Cheers,
Hi Dave
I think this is what Colin is saying

John
oh well, only two out of three :)
Thanks John
The Google translation was "Just playing with an old Photo", but I was "inspired" by an ad that used to be on TV where the sexy girl was talking in French to the good-looking guy, but they'd added sub-titles - it sounded oh so romantic, until you read the sub-titles - something like
"You're a bit late home today"
"Yes - I had some car trouble"
"What's wrong with the car"?
"How should I know, I'm not a mechanic!"
With this particular shot I was just having a quick look at some 30GB worth of DNGs that were chewing up hard drive space on my home PC. I'd never done anything with this one because I didn't like the composition - but found that it doesn't look too bad with an ultra-panoramic look (something for me to remember for the future).
The image actually has quite a few issues that I don't like, so I didn't spend too much time on it - it won't go any further than here.
Geez. Here I was about to rave about what a beautiful photo you posted and love the French, yada yada yada. Now if I did that you would learn that my eye is quite untrained! Glad you fessed up early!:D Now I don't look like a naive critiquer:rolleyes:
personally...I dont like the photo,,,,The composition to me is just odd....I think either the forground should be more prominant or the background...Too me its too evenly divided between the two... :)
Just doesnt seem up too par as the rest of Colins images...:)
sacré bleu!
Er... I think it has too much artifice... or as my good friend Fred Spanner used to say "Eh, lad, it looks a bit over-engineered" :)
The colours seem too strong to me. But then that's me.
LOL - thanks folks :)
To be honest, there are parts of it that I like, and parts that I don't (as I say, it's just a "throw-away" shot - it won't ever see the light of day on canvas).
The composition I do actually like - I've always struggled with elongated structures in the foreground when they're not parallel to the frame, but for some reason this works (to my eye anyway).
It was the pick of the bunch from a bracketed set (with the initial thought of going HDR) - I wanted to retain as much highlight detail as possible, so the selected frame has SEVERELY under-exposed mid-tones - hence the reason the shadows are mega noisy.
The colours are a bit weird - I was playing with a HSB layer (hue-saturation-brightness) and when I changed the hue I likes the presentation of the cloud, but it did shift the blues to purple for the rest of the sky.
Also, the back lighting is uneven -- not sure why; I thought that I might have damaged it in processing, but when I checked, I found that the RAW shot was the same.
Fun bit of processing though :)
OK - Back, by popular demand ...
... Slightly tweaked version :)
