| Canon camera battery issue http://www.amazon.com/Canon-1390mAh-...1647943&sr=8-2 Does any one else have issues with this battery? I have 2 bodies, EIGHT batteries to cycle through. Have had them for about a year to a year and a half at the MOST. I now have FOUR batteries that have DIED!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE. What is up with that??? The reason why I think that they are dead is b/c when I put them in the charger, they show charge complete in a matter of minutes, then I go to use the battery and it will not work. Advice and opinions most welcome!!!! |

Susan, That link doesn't work ![]() If the battery technology is Ni-Cad, this sounds normal. If Ni-MH, they shouldn't do it. If Lithium Ion they definitely should be OK still. Care to give us an idea of how many charging cycles each has had? Round it to the nearest 10 ![]() ![]() Cheers, |

Ouch, sounds like a duff batch to me, ... or a faulty charger. Investigate second idea first, then send a couple of batts off to Canon for comment/replacement? |

It might be your camera,,, I just bought a 50D and had that same problem...charger and camera said 100 charge,,,I took a few bursts and then the camera indicated only 25% charge and then died... put battery back into charger and it 75-100 Percent charge remaining... I called canon and they said return the camera... So I'll be getting my second 50D later this week .... |

The only other thing i can suggest dooing is trying to clean the battery contacts on the batteries with a pencil eraser to try and clean off any build up on the metal...other than that,,,call Canon I guess and see what they say...? |

If possible, I'd try to work through it methodically, including testing them in another camera and charging via another charger if at all possible. Off memory, the BP511 were what I used to use in my 20D - the original was fine, but when I added the battery grip I switched to sterlingtek batteries (higher capacities and much cheaper). |

Thanks all. I am having the same problem as Susan with my battery for the (new to me) 20d. I'm gonna take Colin's advice and buy from Sterling. Maybe they should give you some commission Colin....lol

Am very grateful for this thread. Once read (on here?) that you can get duff batteries now and again. But I always thought it was me and the fact I do a lot in Liveview on my 40D. But it has continued to nag at me that the battery was not doing what it should. So, with Colin's advice as above, I'm off to SterlingTek. |

Just an FYI for all those with Canon SLR. I've been using the BP-511 2000mAh equivilant (for my 20d)from Sterling Tech that Colin recommended and love them. They seem to last forever. I highly recommend for anyone that is having this same problem with Canon batteries. And thanks again to Colin for the recommendation.

Is this any good; I've only bought stepping rings but they are a lot cheaper. http://www.premier-ink.co.uk/batteri...-13_15_17.html |
