    Birds of Bornholm: Barnacle Goose

Bornholm is a Danish island off the southern tip of Sweden (Wildlife South, right???) in the Baltic Sea. I was there for a week, visiting family and taking photos.

Had an opportunity to get some fun captures of birds we don't see here in the US, the first being a Barnacle Goose, which is a member of the Brant family:

All taken with 60D and 100-400L, Acratech BH, Manfrotto pod.

Thanks for looking. BTW, the water was blue-green, but looks like I still have to play w/HSL a bit more on #2...

Good images, Sean. The first one captures it beautifully.

Not sure if this lot currently on Bornholm come to us, but we (Scotland) get tens of thousands of Barnacles every October for over-wintering. I posted this one from my visit, last October, to Solway Firth area of southwest Scotland

That is a cool thread! I love the shots of them in the field, reminds me of Canada geese in our fields here on the Eastern Shore of MD. Of course I'm usually hunting them with something other than a camera that time of year...
