So none of these quite equal my Owl....which by the way is an Eurasion Eagle Owl, but the first one comes close for me.

    Male adult Goss Hawk

I had a little trouble with this guy as the background was fairly close and he was in a very low light area. Caused me to lose a little more DOF.

these raptors are so intense a creature! All of the owl shots are so clear they are creepy (in a good way). They capture the predatory nature of the animal. And those beaks look mighty dangerous!

    thanks for posting.

Maybe. But as you say yourself about the first one, they run it a pretty close second.

You really have mastered the art of not only making the highest quality images, but of capturing these birds 'at the moment'. Each one is captured in a way that really portrays the intensity and characteristics of the bird.

I think you are a bird whisperer, they seem to look straight down the barrel. Thank God you are a photographer and not a hunter. As Donald says they are like portraits, well done again.

Thank you Donald, it is a fun road to walk down, the learning that is. Thank you for inserting the My Owl link, and you very kind words.

Wayne, thank you. I was infact once a hunter. however I enjoy seeing my pray leave once I have shot it much more than the duties that came with the later. Perhaps they are looking at their reflection in my bald head or maybe even think it is a steak.

Great images Paul, nice series of raptors. I think the second is closest to the owl, the eyes are more intense than the first whos eyes are shadowed.
