    Someday I Will Grow UP...

When they are this size ( about one foot long) alligators spend their time hiding, blending in with the weed and brush.

    Someday I Will Grow UP...

When they are this size ( about fourteen feet long and one thousand pounds) alligators spend their time worrying about nothing, the are truly the alpha ambuse predator. Please do not judge the composition of this image, I had to shoot through a small opening in the underbrush to get the shot. I wanted to get the image because this is by far the largest alligator I have seen in Florida. Look at the girth on it's mid-section, certainly eating well.

    Someday I Will Grow UP...

C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Joe,

That big one is simply a BEAST. Hard to imagine this species was once critically endangered- there are enormous numbers of them now

They do have an easier life now with alligator skin jackets and shoes not much in fashion.

Nice shots Joe. That there is a monster.

And they can move really fast!!! I've heard they are quite fond of golf courses and swimming pools.

Hi Joe, I like #1, right in the environment trying to blend in, it's hard to believe that it could reach the proportions of the beast in #2. Crocodiles and Alligators always appear to have that evil disarming grin.

Thank you for you comment Kevin. It is hard to believe they were endangered once, now it is estimated that there are well over a million alligators in Florida.

Thanks Clive, I think when they get to be a beastly size it is an arrogant smirk knowing that nothing will mess with them.
