Spanish Garlic Still Life in B+W

Hi,
It´s too hot to go out here in Malaga so I thought I´d try some indoor still life Photography. Here´s some Spanish garlic just before it gets made into some Gazpacho.

I like this picture it has a great feel to it. I think the background works very well, may I ask what the background is? It would suit a picture I'm working on.

A think the simple composition and not being too busy works extremely well.

No question that everything works very well, though I would prefer less foreground. I am also interested in knowing what the background material is, which works perfectly for this.

Jhon and Mike, I shot this on a sheet of paper that had a marble like pattern on it like you can see in the forground. Then in Post I blured the top half a bit with a gaussian blur the added this texture overlay to the top half to form the background.

I too like this simple still life. The garlic cloves have a good colour and texture that with your choice of background make a Very nice B&W conversion.
