    The Virgen

The Virgen River in Southern Utah has cut a canyon through Zion National Park...

    The Virgen

We often assume that mid-day is not ever a good time to shoot landscapes. However, mid-day is often the only time when any sun penetrates down to the bottom of many narrow canyons in Utah.

Looks good. What was your exposure time? Could you have used a little longer and captured more of the running water?

Yes, I could have used a slower shutter speed. I shot this at 1/8 second @ f/8 using ISO 100. However, although the cotton candy effect with running water is very popular; I am not a great fan of that effect. I do like a fairly slow shutter speed because it shows the motion. However, an exceptionally long shutter speed smooths out the water to the point, IMO, that it no longer shows motion. Different strokes for different folks I guess!
