A bit of a problem location there I suspect, Bernard.
There is more out of focus than sharp but not sufficiently blurred to merge with the background.
And you are already struggling with a wide aperture and slow shutter speed.
I think I would have tried to concentrate on a smaller area where I could maintain sharp focus.
Flash may have helped but I know all too well how difficult it is to get this sort of shot to work with flash which can cause as many problems as it solves.
I think a crop to remove around 1/3 of the right side, and ending up with a different size ratio, may have more impact.
