    The Barrel racing.....more rodeo

In these images are the female riders racing around three barrels set 100ft apart. The only rule is that they must travel in the shape of a clover around all 3. -5 sec. for knocking over a barrel. It is a timed event and the pros did it in less than 20 seconds.

This is my favorite set of the three sets that you posted. That might be because the audience is included, which helps tell the story. The other reason is that the action seems more dramatic to me.

I almost can't believe the horse in the third one didn't fall over immediately after you got the shot. It's my favorite action shot of all three sets.

This rodeo seems to be an intimate setting that provided you more access than most rodeos will allow. Please provide the details about that.

Thanks Mike. First....yes intamate would be accurate. It was the 67th annual Longbeach washington Rodeo. While it is on the circuit with larger it is a very small town and thus a smaller rodeo. As for access....I went a couple hours early to scout the venue and while there met a guy whom takes nearly all of the rodeos photos. He had stopped me as he noticed we were useing the same equipement.

We got to talking and I hung out with him the whole day and viola......access.
