This guy landed 5 feet from me when i was shooting hummingbirds. The one time i wish i had a zoom. This is an uncropped image ..............................

Nice detail. 5 feet is close for this largish bird, so it is either you go backwards or you lose the feet which you did.

A zoom would not have helped unless you wanted only the eyes.

Yes, a nice sharp image. For me, the picture would have worked better if you had pulled back a little, got the feet in, and so showed a little more of the environment.

Just a fun shot, bobo......................zooms do go both ways. (i had 420mm Prime at 5 feet and couldn't move, so i took a shot.)

I agree dave, which is why i wished i had a zoom instead of a 420mm prime lens.

Beautiful color, perfect detail. My only suggestion would be to crop the bottom tighter to totally eliminate the legs. Keep shooting Steve.

Thanks joe, shots like this are a dime a dozen. Anyone with a big lens can do it at will. I'll prob. bin it, but wanted to show off the great feather detail , before i did. If i could have gotten 4 steps back, it would be a keeper. I'll take a good composition over a close-up any day.
