My first attempt at B&W
This year is 10 years after the Hayman Fire which burned over 138,000 acres near our home in Colorado. We were driving through the burn area taking color photographs yesterday and it seemed to me that this would be a good use of B&W. I was thinking about a post that Donald made recently where he said, "...the basic principle of B & W - it's all about line, shape, tone and texture..." Strong lines were there with the trees, texture could be there with trees depending on composition and it seemed that if I found contrasts between trees and sky then the tones would vary enough for a good picture. So I began looking for those scenes that were not too busy and where there were fairly strong contrasts. Here are a few of what I came up with. I would appreciate comments in all areas, especially suitability for B&W, composition and processing.
Thank you!
