The Giant Turtle. Easily 2 or more feet wide and maybe 5-6 feet long. Probably conservative here with the sizes. Awesome looking guy!

Usually stays underwater and have been trying to catch him since last summer when I first saw him briefly. Well he was in a super mood the other day and....

    1. The head. Yes, that is moss on his head.

    Thanks Joe and Geoff.

I was asked to submit the full length to a database that the Toronto Zoo maintains of turtle sightings and locations.

    Thanks Muriel.

I was quite excited to be able to share this here but apparently everyone has one in their backyards it appears.

Yeeeechhhh. No doubt about it. That is a snapping turtle, and a really big one at that. The big ones can easily bite fingers off, and they are just mean, nasty, nasty critters.

Good photos though! I liked the head-only and tail-only shots.

Great photo series for us to see the "whole picture". Geez, that tail looks like an aligator by itself. We have snapping turtles in our ponds but I've never seen one near that size. Yikes!

    Thanks Terri.

I am pretty sure that my size estimate is off by quite a bit. Will probably go to the place again to see if he pops up and then can gauge the size better (and get better shots).

Added a pic of the back though it does not quite show the size being half submerged.

We all have our pains and aches as we age but nothing serious. Thanks.
