Here is a shot of the crescent moon that I took on the 24 May this year. Taken handheld on Nikon D300s and Sigma 150 - 500mm f5 - 6.3 DG OS lens at 500mm, f8, 1\25s with -0.7EV. Hopefully not to bad for a handheld shot, and shows the benefit of OS. It does look a lot better (and much larger!!) when viewed in its full .tiff format.
As soon as the rain and clouds move away, (which with the way things are weatherwise here in the UK, could be a while!!), I'm going to try and photograph the Moon again, but as sugested, on a tripod, using a shutter release and probably with the mirror up to further reduce vibrations.
