The Mighty River Thames in Flood

I wanted to give the impression of the high level of water in the River Thames, which as you can see has burst its bank - but have I shown too much?

It's an attractive, tranquil scene, made especially so by the swans. Were it not for your comments, I'm not sure that I would have known that the water level is unusually high. The homes on the left are so distant that I might have thought that the fence is actually a water barrier. The fence on the right would have been my most obvious clue of the situation. However, keep in mind that I don't live around water and am not sensitive to the clues that might be obvious to others.

Nice scene. I live near the river Trent about 400 feet below but I've just seen a water rushing downhill in a Devon village on tv 'Just checking there isn't any water higher up than me', no, I'm alright.

I can't see any really credible alternative to what you currently have, Chris. I have held pieces of card against the screen in several combinations but without seeing anything better.

So I would leave it as it is.
